How do I know when it's time to come in for a checkup?
The answer to this varies on the individual. We take the time to learn about each of our patients, including their past dental history, present condition, future needs and goals. We then create a custom treatment plan for that individual that fits their particular needs and goals.

Studies show that anywhere from 70% - 90% of adults have some form of gum disease, requiring more frequent visits to ensure dental health. With new information linking gum disease to systemic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes, it is more important than ever to keep your gums healthy and happy. Gum disease is often difficult to spot on your own because of lack of obvious symptoms such as pain. In addition, while daily brushing and daily flossing go a long way towards maintaining a healthy mouth, it's wise to check for plaque that has hardened into tartar; this condition requires professional cleaning to avoid gingivitis and periodontitis.

For your convenience, we will schedule you ahead of time for your next cleaning and check-up; that way you can have the day and time that suits you best. Our staff will follow up with you as a courtesy to remind you of your next appointment.
Do you accept referrals?
We always welcome new patients. Most of our new patients come to us as referrals from our existing clientele who want their friends to have a happy dental home and share a similar comfortable dental experience. Since we enjoy providing quality dentistry, we're eager to help the family and friends of our patients. Even if you don't know someone who is presently a client, you are more than welcome to join our dental family. Please click here to make an appointment or contact our helpful staff.
Do you accept my insurance plan?
We accept most insurance plans. Even if we are not participating in a specific insurance plan because their policy differs with our principle of providing quality dental care you are still welcome to our office. We provide you the same good dentistry and submit your insurance claim electronically so you can receive reimbursement as quickly as possible. We will also do our best to help you understand your benefits. The contract is between your insurance and you. Unfortunately, we are unable to keep track of the multitude of insurance plans or the changes that regularly occur. If you have any concerns contact our office and we will be more than happy to help.
What different payment options do you provide?
We accept cash, personal checks, debit cards, VISA and MasterCard. We ask for payments at the time of the appointment. To make Quality Dentistry affordable to all we have Care Credit and Capital One Payment Options. We have found most of our clients who have insurance receive payment within a few days. Paying at the time of the appointment saves time and effort for everyone.
I might have to cancel my appointment. Is there a cancellation fee?
In order to maintain a well-run office and provide all our patients the best service possible, we request all changes in appointments be made at least 48 working hours ahead of the time of the appointment. This allows us to contact patients on our priority list and use the time effectively. Please understand that short notice changes causes our team to spend time refilling our schedule rather than serving our patients' needs.

As a precautionary step, when we book appointments, we ask you make sure the time is good for you. Please remember if we lose time, it could be the time another patient may have needed for an emergency or required treatment.

Our goal is to provide excellent dental care in an efficient and prompt manner. Out of respect for all of our patients and staff members, we reserve the right to bill for our time, preparation and lost treatment. Please contact our office immediately if you need to make a change to the appointment.
I really don't like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?
We understand your concern but we believe it is in your best interest to take care of your oral health. In an effort to encourage you, we have designed our office in a friendly, home-like setting to immediately put you at ease. Our caring and attentive staff will address your specific concerns. Some of our comfort techniques include topical anesthetic, oral sedatives, DVDs, blankets, warm towels and massage pads. Your comfort is of the utmost importance to us.
What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?
Safety of our patients and team members is our top most priority. Our entire team follows best practices and is well-versed in state-of-the-art infection control techniques designed to ensure patient safety. This goes well beyond wearing gloves and face masks to prevent passing germs. We use Autoclave to sterilize the instruments and use single-use disposables wherever applicable. All the surfaces are covered by single use plastic barriers which are replaced for every patient.
How can I have whiter teeth?
There are a number of procedures available to help whiten your smile. These can be as simple as Take Home bleaching trays or On the Go Bleaching Pens. For those who would like to have instant whitening we provide in-office 1 Hour Zoom and other bleaching techniques. Our team will help you make the best decision and will start the treatment as soon as you wish.
Are sensitive teeth a concern after bleaching and other whitening methods?
Dr. Gampa will recommend the best treatment option for teeth whitening to minimize sensitive teeth. However, some options can lead to sensitivity and Dr. Gampa will prescribe prescription strength fluoride toothpaste to eliminate sensitive teeth.
Should I be concerned if my gums bleed after brushing?
Yes, bleeding of gums is not a normal condition and you should seek Dr. Gampa's advice as soon as possible. The most common cause of tooth loss is gum disease. Of greater importance are the links between gum disease and various serious conditions including heart disease, stroke, respiratory ailments, osteoporosis, diabetes, low birth weight and premature babies. It's important to realize healthy gums do not bleed with brushing and flossing. Bleeding is typically a sign of gum disease (also called periodontal disease or pyorrhea). Gum disease is a progressive condition that can be prevented if diagnosed and treated early; however, more advanced stages can often cause irreversible damage. Be sure to have your teeth and gums checked regularly to prevent problems from gum disease. Remember, bleeding is generally not a normal event. Therefore, you should contact our office as soon as possible.
Is it important for me to floss everyday?
Flossing everyday is extremely important. Our mouths are never truly clean because they are always inhabited by bacteria. Bacteria digest even the tiniest particles of food. The sticky reside deposited on the teeth after the bacteria digest the food particles is known as plaque. Plaque accumulates during the day, particularly in places where your toothbrush cannot reach. If plaque is left to harden into tartar (calculus), the results could be irritation of the gums-or even worse, the results could be inflammation and gum disease.

It is fairly simple, however, to keep your teeth free of nasty plaque and tartar buildups. The solution is one of maintaining healthy brushing and flossing habits. The flossing helps to reach where the toothbrush has no access-between the teeth. So, flossing, in addition to brushing, helps you to keep your teeth polished and to control bad breath.
I want my front teeth to look better but I don't want to wear braces. What are my options?
A new smile can revitalize your overall appearance and boost your confidence and self-esteem. A new smile can brighten your life! There are several options that can give you a brighter, more attractive smile. These choices include Invisalign (link to: www.invisalign.com) clear un-noticeable braces; and non-orthodontic treatments such as veneers, esthetic crowns, whitening, and bonding.

After conducting a thorough examination and consultation, we can create a customized treatment plan to help you get that new smile! We want you to know we will spend the time planning to ensure you get the best we have to offer in a manner that suits your needs. Note that not all patients can opt for non-orthodontic treatments; if your particular situation is best treated that way, we will let you know.

Why does my breath smell even though I brush everyday? Are there any treatments for it?
"Bad breath", or halitosis, can be caused by disorders and diseases of the oral cavity. Some of the most common causes include: a dry mouth due to lack of flow of saliva during sleep, denture wearing, food retention, poor oral hygiene, dental decay, gingivitis, gum disease, an unclean tongue, alcohol consumption, and smoking. Most of these factors cause an increase in bacteria in the oral cavity. These bacteria produce nasty compounds that cause "bad breath."
Millions of people struggle with halitosis, or bad breath, despite daily teeth brushing. Here's a checklist of procedures that can eliminate the problem: twice daily brushing, daily flossing, tongue cleaning, regular professional cleanings, and careful cleaning of any dentures or removable dental appliances. However, if your hygiene is meticulous and the problem persists, we can offer several solutions. First, we can provide a special breath kit made by Breath Rx . These kits typically include a plastic tongue scraper that cleans away bacterial buildup on your tongue ten times more effectively than just brushing your tongue, significantly alleviating odor. The kits also include a toothpaste, rinse and portable mouth spray containing an ingredient designed to actively destroy the odor-causing sulfides that cause bad breath.
At what age should my children first see a dentist?
We usually prefer to see children in our office by the age of three; this allows us to anticipate the development of their overall bite and dental development prior to the emergence of the permanent teeth. At this young age, it is often easier to recognize and take steps to prevent potential future problems. The first time we meet them is often during one of the parent's or sibling's appointments. Of course, if your toddler accidentally chips or knocks out a tooth prior to this age, you should let us know right away.

We take steps to create a fun and comfortable space for the children. We'll introduce ourselves and make them feel comfortable with our team. We provide toys, have child-friendly room deco, offer options for watching cartoons, and stock stickers and suitable dental supplies to make their first visit a memorable one!
My child's tooth has fallen out because of an accident. What should I do?
If the tooth is not dirty, place the tooth in the tooth socket and come in as soon as possible for treatment. It is imperative that the tooth be re-implanted no later than 30 minutes after it is lost; therefore the sooner the better!
If the tooth is dirty, rinse it off with milk (or salt water if milk is not available) and place the tooth back in the socket. Do not use alcohol to clean the tooth and do not scrape the tooth's surface.

If your child's tooth is knocked out during office hours, but there is no imminent medical emergency, please contact us immediately to see Dr. Gampa. Simply describe the situation over the phone and our office staff will help you determine the safest and most appropriate plan of action.

If it's after office hours, try calling Dr. Gampa at on his cell phone (contact link here). If you are unable to reach him, you should go to the Emergency Room at the local hospital. Try to reposition the tooth yourself. If you are unable to do so, store the tooth in milk. Do not let it dry out, and do not, under any circumstances, clean it with alcohol.
What is Smile Analysis?
When you decide to correct or enhance your smile, Dr. Gampa will complete your oral exam, discuss your smile goals and create a treatment plan. Whether you're considering teeth whitening, teeth straightening, bonding, veneers or full smile recontouring, Dr. Gampa will discuss the options with you.

Your specific goals are a very important aspect of smile analysis. It's our job to help you achieve those goals. We often use digital photographs and cosmetic wax ups to help you see "the future".
I'm curious about crowns, onlays, inlays, veneers & partials. Can you tell me more about these procedures?
With today's technology, materials, and advanced techniques, we have many options for restoring weak, broken, chipped, discolored, and/or missing teeth bringing your smile back to its original shape and function. For example, we can fabricate an all-porcelain crown, somewhat like a "cap", to cover the entire outside of the problem tooth. Crowns are also helpful to cover large areas of decay after they've been filled. Or, for smaller areas of decay, we can make all-porcelain onlays or inlays, similar to crowns, but retaining more natural tooth structure. For unattractive front teeth, we can create pretty, natural shapes and shades by applying paper-thin porcelain veneers to the fronts. For patients who are missing a number of front/side teeth, we can create either a fixed partial denture also called a bridge where we fabricate crowns and splint them together and cement on to the teeth or a removable partial denture, designed for either the upper or lower jaw, made of all acrylic or all metal. They're attached to existing teeth by means of precision acrylic clasps, and must be removed for cleaning after eating, as well as for sleeping. For more information on any of these procedures, please feel free to talk with Dr. Gampa during your visit.
Can you provide any solutions for preventing snoring?
Snoring can be caused by many different factors so we encourage you to visit Dr. Gampa to get the best advice possible. In some cases, a person may actually stop breathing for short periods during the night-a condition called sleep apnea. In other cases, snoring can be caused by enlarged anatomical structures within the mouth and throat. During sleep, the throat area relaxes, allowing these structures to collapse against one another and obstruct clear airflow. In the latter situation, we can prescribe and fit a special appliance called a "snore-guard", which gently holds the mouth and throat in an open position during relaxed sleep and thus prevents snoring.
I'm a new patient and I know there will be forms for me to fill out prior to my first appointment. Could I get copies of these ahead of time, to save time on my appointment day?
We're happy to provide you with all the necessary new patient forms prior to your first appointment. Visit our New Patient (link to the new patient section) section, and choose the appropriate forms from the listing provided. From there, you can quickly print the forms you need.

Spending some time in the New Patient (link to the new patient section) section will also allow you to familiarize yourself with the practice and the staff and help you be better prepared for your visit!
